We are currently seeking to hire an experienced a Fashion Textile and Fabric Specialist for Apparels and Uniforms is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and selecting fabrics and textiles for the design and production of apparel and uniforms. This role combines technical knowledge of textile materials with an understanding of fashion trends, garment functionality, and industry standards. The specialist ensures that fabrics meet quality standards, durability requirements, and design specifications, while also considering comfort, aesthetics, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabric Selection and Sourcing:
- Research, source, and recommend fabrics for various apparel and uniform lines, ensuring they meet performance, aesthetic, and cost requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality textiles, including specialized fabrics for uniforms with durability, breathability, and comfort.
- Keep up to date with trends in fabric technology, new textile innovations, and sustainable options.
Fabric Evaluation and Testing:
- Conduct in-depth evaluations of fabric samples, considering factors like texture, weight, stretch, colorfastness, and wearability.
- Collaborate with the designer and art director to test fabric performance under different conditions (e.g., washing, wear, exposure to light).
- Ensure that fabrics meet safety, regulatory, and industry standards for apparel and uniform production.
- Assist in developing fabric swatches, mood boards, and prototypes for new product lines.
Sustainability and Innovation:
- Recommend and incorporate sustainable and eco-friendly fabric options into apparel and uniform designs.
- Explore and introduce innovative fabric technologies, such as moisture-wicking, antimicrobial, and performance-enhancing textiles.
Vendor and Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with textile suppliers and manufacturers to ensure the best quality, price, and lead times for fabric orders.
- Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and quality standards with suppliers to optimize cost-efficiency and meet production deadlines.
Market Trend Analysis:
- Monitor trends in the textile and fashion industries to ensure fabric selection is aligned with current market demands and consumer preferences.
- Provide insights into fabric trends that could enhance the functionality and aesthetics of apparel and uniforms.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Manage fabric sourcing within budget constraints, identifying opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality.
- Provide regular cost analysis and updates to the design and production teams.
- Coordinate with logistic on Receiving, Deliverables, Dispatching & Distribution.
- Report and Align with Brand & Development Manager on all updates.
